\nEl zooplacton es el siguiente nivel de la cadena. Esta compuesto principalmente de peque\u00f1os crust\u00e1ceos que continuamente filtran y comen algas y bacterias del agua.<\/span>
\nPor ello, son un elemento importante en el \"desempe\u00f1o de la higiene\", cumpliendo un gran papel en la eliminaci\u00f3n de g\u00e9rmenes pat\u00f3genos.<\/span>

El zooplancton es devorado por insectos y sus larvas, as\u00ed como por larvas de trit\u00f3n y peque\u00f1os peces.
\nLos peces peque\u00f1os que se multiplican r\u00e1pidamente sin otros depredadores (gambusia invasiva) pueden hacer diezmar el zooplancton hasta el punto de que falle como regulador natural del fitoplancton. Esto conduce a una fuerte proliferaci\u00f3n de algas y agua verde, por lo que no se utilizan peces en el estanque de nataci\u00f3n o en la piscina natural.
